Turn doomscrolling into discovery
A spare moment can leave you with something worth knowing. WikiScroll turns Wikipedia knowledge and Wikivoyage travel guides into a thoughtful, swipeable reader.
Instead of another stream of reactions and headlines, discover an unfamiliar idea, a surprising life, or a place you have never considered visiting. Read a short introduction, follow the original article when something catches your attention, and stop whenever you like.
Follow your curiosity, not an engagement score
Save what matters to you. They do not train a feed around your last swipe. Explore broadly or choose topics deliberately. There are no daily targets or streaks to protect, and no account is required.
Two ways to explore
- Wikipedia: discover people, science, history, nature, technology, culture, and more. Select topics to focus your discovery. Adjust article depth to favor familiar subjects or more obscure finds.
- Wikivoyage: discover destinations through travel guides. Filter by country or region and trip style, then open the map to put a place in context. Travel controls are separate from Wikipedia topics and depth.
Keep what stays with you
- Saved articles: swipe right or press Save to keep an interesting discovery. Swipe left to pass.
- Collections: organize discoveries into reading lists and share a collection through a link, with a preview designed for messages and social apps.
- Reading history: find articles you have already encountered.
- Gentle activity stats: see today's article count and a weekly activity chart, tracked separately for Wikipedia and Wikivoyage, without streaks or daily goals.
A reader that fits your day
- 15 language choices: English is the default. Also choose Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Hebrew, Dutch, or Polish. Article availability depends on the source language.
- Dark and light themes: choose the appearance that suits you.
- Ambient reading: press Spacebar on desktop or long-press a card on mobile to focus on a discovery with fewer distractions. Press Spacebar again, or tap the background or text, to return.
- Phone, tablet, and desktop: responsive cards, touch gestures, desktop keyboard controls, and two-finger horizontal trackpad swipes.
- Home-screen installation: install WikiScroll as a Progressive Web App for quick access.
- Cached reading: previously cached content can remain available offline. New discoveries and maps need a connection.
- Ready for the next discovery: cards load ahead as you read to keep moving between articles smooth.
Your discoveries stay yours
Preferences, saved articles, collections, and reading history are stored in your browser. There is no account-based sync. If you share a collection, anyone with its link can read that snapshot. Clearing browser data may remove your local library.
